EC REGULATION 842/2006 FLUORINATED GREENHOUSE GASES

Latest information from the UK Government
The main provisions of the Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases Regulation will apply from 4 July 2007. Defra together with the DTI, Scottish Executive, Welsh Assembly and other stakeholders, have produced Initial Guidance on the contents of the f-gas Regulation.

THE OZONE DEPLETING SUBSTANCES (QUALIFICATIONS) REGULATIONS 2006

The UK Government set minimum qualifications for HCFC handling with the introduction of a UK Regulation on mandatory minimum qualifications for handlers of ozone depleting substances.

The Regulations were signed and were laid before Parliament on the 16 June 2006 and came into force on the 10 July 2006.

THE HAZARDOUS WASTE REGULATIONS (2005)

The Hazardous Waste Regulations 2005 (replaces the Special Waste Regulations 1996) - This legislation is relevant to those wastes that may be hazardous or toxic. They detail how hazardous waste should be kept, stored, treated and disposed of.

THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION ACT 1990

EPA (Environmental Protection Act) 1990, section 33, states: 'It is an offence to treat, keep, or dispose of a controlled substance (Refrigerant), in a manner likely to cause pollution to the environment, or harm human health.'

MANAGEMENT OF HEALTH AND SAFETY AT WORK REGULATIONS (1992)

This regulation makes explicit what employers are required to do to comply and covers the requirements to maintain the safe use of equipment and systems. Aire Serv maintains a watching brief over legislative changes as they apply to employers' obligations, in order that, the work they carry out is fully compliant with the most current regulations.

PART L OF THE BUILDING REGULATIONS (2006)

Revisions to the Building Regulations in England and Wales are currently being introduced on a phased basis.
Of particular significance to the heating &ventilation sector is Part L of the regulations, which addresses a range of issues surrounding energy efficiency and fuel conservation.

REGULATORY REFORM (FIRE SAFETY) ORDER (2006)

New fire safety legislation affecting all non-domestic premises in England & Wales comes into force on the 1st October 2006, in accordance with the Regulatory Reform (FIRE SAFETY) Order 2006.
